Sunny, after a long night of storms, storms, storms. Had a restless 7 year-old in my room all night.
I am Listening to
The kids in the living room, having fun being together. This is what I love about homeschool. We do life together, every single day. My kids are each other's best friends.
I am Wearing
Adidas pants & a tee...comfy clothes of course!
I am so Grateful for
a loving husband, 3 great kids, a steady(ish) job, a home, food...all the little things that make my life a blessed one. Too many stories lately about people just being plain ungrateful for what they've got. I don't want to take advantage or miss the little blessings in my life.
I'm Pondering
Why people run from their problems. It never works. It never helps. It feels good for a temporary moment, and then reality sets back in.
I am Reading
Shanghai Girls by Lisa See.
Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris (latest Sookie Stackhouse book!!!!)
I am Thinking
a nap sounds really good about right now...
I am Creating
special inexpensive Mother's Day gifts for the weekend.
On my iPod/iPad
Sookie Stackhouse book on kindle app!
Home Education
I've come to the realization we're a weird brand of Charlotte Mason unschooler types. Life is school and school is life. This really hit me yesterday when my child told a perfect stranger "We don't do school." I was mortified and embarrassed at first, but after thinking on it, and talking with my child---I realized that they don't see the line blur between home-life and school. Everything just flows. And isn't that my entire purpose behind home education? So, I really should be kinda happy about that comment. We did have a nice talk about how other people don't understand our schooling methods and it's best to NOT say those kinds of things. Unfortunately, some people just equate worksheets & busywork with school and nothing else.
About the Home
working in the yard, getting things whipped into shape...watching Spring appear everywhere
The Spiritual Life
Still feeling dry, but hopeful. Need to draw nearer to God.
I am Hoping and Prayingdarkness would be exposed for what it is
for a financial situation; praying for favor in this area
for my work; keep the jobs coming Lord!
for friends with special needs kids and all that requires
rest for the weary
In the Garden
Lettuce, lettuce, lettuce! And arugula. Need to put more soil on top of the potato bins.
Around the House
Nothing new to report....
From the Kitchen
Still doing e-mealz and liking it! :)
One of My Favorite Things
Watching my son & daughter play ball. The days and nights are long at the ball field, but this time will pass too quickly. I enjoy seeing the look of accomplishment on their faces when they do something right, or get a great hit. We're not overly competitive, but it is fun to win!
A Few Plans for the Week:
Ballgames every night of the week and/or practices. I'm a running girl.
Picture thoughts:
on our little mini-vacation to Great Wolf Lodge

Believe it or not: my most favorite project is research! I've spent hours researching everything from medical journals to court cases and all things in between. What can I say, I'm a geek at heart.

My business motto boils down to this: You name the project, and I can do it for you! There is no such thing as a "small" project to me. All of my projects, big or small, receive the same amount of TLC combined with plenty of time and attention.
You'll get very reasonable rates and a warm and friendly Southern personality to work with. References and portfolio samples gladly provided upon request.

Dark....it's night as I write this. (9:24 to be exact)
I am Listening to
The Hallmark Movie in the background; I can't believe I missed it. Oh well, it will re-run sometime on the Hallmark channel, I'm sure.
I am Wearing
Tee-shirt and boxers (my favorite kind of pj's)
I am so Grateful for
a JOYOUS Easter, despite my Mamaw's passing a month ago. I thought today would be unbearable, as I always went to church with her on Easter Sunday the past few years since having children - but, it was okay. It was actually great. I was filled with peace. Her peace. I know she's at peace and would not want me to be so upset. So....I just smiled today, in memory of her.
I'm Pondering
Gas prices. Ugh. Messing up the budget in a big, big way. I know they'll only get higher. We've just got to learn to be CONTENT at HOME and the in-out trips need to cease. One day a week for library/errands is plenty. Between Chad's work and ballgames & practices, it is eating up our gas budget and THEN some. Sigh. But God always provides.
I am Reading
Shanghai Girls by Lisa See. Very good so far!!! (June book of the month at our library, I'm a month ahead of things, yeah!!!)
I am Thinking
about the week ahead----so much to accomplish at home
I am Creating
memories with my children; a lifetime of childhood treasures for them to recall one day. At least, that's my hope.
On my iPod
latest Zac Brown Band album; love those boys...such soulful, southern voices.
Home Education
It's testing week. Ick. I hate standardized testing with a passion. But it is what it is, as they say. You jump the hoop to make the DNPE of NC happy and get it over with. I could care less what those tests say, as a Charlotte Mason homeschooler. My kids are happy, well-adjusted, and very smart. I think those tests are very contrived anyway. But all grumbling aside, it's here.
About the Home
taking down the Easter decorations and putting up the summer things---my summer gnomes, potted plants outside, and so on...before you know it summer will be in full swing!
The Spiritual Life
It's been a dry season. No lie. Just really dry in my soul. I know that has to do with my grandma's passing. My depression is flaring up so I know to be gentle with myself. Trying to listen to only worship/praise music and get in the Word daily. The more I do, the better I feel. The dry season will end. Eventually. (Today's Easter JOY was a great start, I must say)
I am Hoping and Prayingfor continued family reconciliation; in many ways, shapes and forms
for a financial situation; praying for favor in this area
for my work; keep the jobs coming Lord!
for a dear local pastor & friend who is battling an unknown health problem right now---for doctor's wisdom to figure it all out
for those in my life who need healing
In the Garden
This weekend was productive. Pared down the lettuces. Added more dirt to the potato boxes. Planted Mandeville and Foxglove and some other mounding perennial I don't remember :) Oh yes, planted cilantro, parsley, and sunflowers too. I could plant something every single day. Tomorrow's task will be the azaleas Chad's grandmother sent to us from the beach. Not sure where they'll go, but I like family plants passed around :) It's a little bit of heritage.
My yard looks beautiful; the purple irises are just gorgeous and so is the clematis. Everything is purple, just as it should be at Easter time.
Around the House
Cleaning up from Easter chaos. Need to have the carpets cleaned, but not in the budget for now, I guess.
From the Kitchen
Still doing e-mealz and liking it! :)
One of My Favorite Things
My Evening Grosbeak is back!! And so are the hummingbirds. I love my birds so much. :)
A Few Plans for the Week:
Standardized testing (did I say ICK?) and lots of ballgames & practices. It's ball season here! Reece is playing coach pitch baseball and Marcy is playing junior fast pitch softball. Keeps me going. I enjoy watching them play so much.

Put the challenge on hold a few days, obviously. But I'm committed to finishing it, so I'll pick up where I left off.
